A total of 104 young unemployed adults with a matric certificate applied to enrol in the digital learning initiative established by the Hillcrest Aids Centre Trust (HACT) and Grindrod. From these applicants, 36 were shortlisted, and 18 candidates were selected to begin their three-month learning journey on Friday, the 29th of August 2025.
The selection process included interviews, as well as assessments of personal agency, career pathing, and English, math and literacy skills. The course is designed to bridge the gap between high school and the working world.
We are eager to see how our very first group of learners, sponsored by Grindrod and Container World, will be empowered to seek employment and contribute to supporting their families. This is the first step toward what we hope will lead to successful transitions into the workforce and result in fulfilling and fruitful careers.
Wishing each learner and their tutors all the best and every success moving forward.
