On 28 October 2025, Grindrod hosted a successful Women’s Health Fair at the Matola terminal, bringing together 130 women, including employees, their wives, and their daughters. The event was organised in partnership with Vida Check Up Clinic, reinforcing Grindrod’s commitment to promoting health, prevention, and wellbeing within our community.
The Health Fair offered a holistic range of activities and consultations designed to educate, empower, and encourage women to prioritise their health.
Activities included:
Zumba & gymnastics sessions to promote physical fitness and wellness
A lecture on breast and cervical cancer, focusing on risk factors, prevention, and early detection
A powerful testimony from a woman currently undergoing breast cancer treatment
Breast and cervical cancer screening consultations
Diabetes, high blood pressure and HIV screening
Nutrition consultations offering personalised guidance
Breast and cervical cancer often develop silently, making early diagnosis critical in saving lives. By providing education and free screening opportunities, the event helped many women better understand the importance of regular check-ups and of paying attention to changes in their own bodies.
One of the most impactful moments of the day was hearing the story of a woman living with breast cancer, who openly shared her challenges, fears, and hopes. Her testimony deeply moved participants and highlighted the reality many women face in their fight against cancer.
Her message served as a reminder that caring for ourselves, physically, mentally, and emotionally, is not optional, but essential. The courage she demonstrated inspired all who attended to be proactive, informed, and attentive to their health.
The Health Fair reinforced Grindrod’s ongoing commitment to fostering a healthy, supportive environment for women and families within the company. By partnering with medical professionals and creating a safe space for conversation and learning, Grindrod aims to encourage a culture of prevention, awareness, and empowerment.
