Grindrod’s rail operations team, in partnership with the Adopt-a-School Foundation, supported the Confidence in Every Step campaign at Sengana Primary School in Hammanskraal.
At the school, many learners walk long distances each day without proper school shoes. This has a direct impact on their confidence, comfort and overall participation in the classroom.
Through this initiative, 140 learners received school shoes, helping remove a barrier that can affect both attendance and their ability to engage fully in their education. Access to something as basic as proper footwear plays an important role in creating a sense of dignity and belonging.
The impact of the day extended beyond the handover. Grindrod team members spent time with learners, engaging in activities, hosting a quiz and sharing moments that made the experience more personal and meaningful. These interactions reinforced the importance of not only contributing but also being present.
