Grindrod is proud to celebrate the success of its Women Locomotive Operators Project in Matola, an initiative focused on increasing female participation in the rail sector and creating opportunities in operational roles.
Launched in 2025, the programme recruited and trained six women as locomotive operators at the Terminal de Carvão da Matola (TCM). Today, they are actively contributing to daily operations, from train reception and inspection to wagon shunting, train assembly, and supporting the business in improving rail turnaround times.
This initiative reflects our commitment to building a more inclusive workplace and expanding access to technical careers. Through training, mentorship, and hands-on experience, we are helping break barriers in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
We are proud of the progress these women have made and the impact they continue to deliver every day.
